When the hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical drive system applies force to the base of the structure, the scissor arms expand, raising the work platform vertically. This simple and efficient structure provides stable lifting motion and is suitable for a wide range of applications, including construction, warehousing, and equipment maintenance.

As scissor lifts can only move vertically, some models are equipped with an extendable platform to increase the working range and allow operators to access hard-to-reach areas. The descent system typically features a fail-safe design-pressure in the hydraulic or pneumatic system can be manually released through a control valve, allowing the platform to descend slowly and safely even in the event of a power outage or system failure.

Based on the power source, scissor lifts are generally categorized into two main types: electric and diesel-powered models. Electric models, powered by lithium batteries or plug-in electricity, are designed with smaller tires and are ideal for smooth indoor environments. They offer zero emissions and low noise. Diesel-powered models, on the other hand, feature larger tires and higher ground clearance, making them suitable for rough outdoor terrains. These models deliver more power and are commonly used in demanding environments such as construction sites. Some versions are also equipped with adjustable outriggers to enhance stability during operation.

Thanks to their stable structure, user-friendly operation, and strong adaptability, scissor lift platforms have become essential equipment in aerial work.
